National Disaster Resilience Month
Resiliency
Think about the
status of our surroundings. Is it ready to face typhoons? Are the people body
and mind prepared? From the past disasters caused deaths and damages, we must
learn and put in mind that our life is at stake and be resilient in our own
way.
Executive
Order No. 29 signed on June 28, 2017 that is issued by President Rodrigo Duterte
declares that July of every Year as the National Disaster Resilience Month in
the Philippines. It is originally known as ‘National Disaster Consciousness Month,’ it
is renamed to shift from disaster awareness to build disaster resilience. This order
aims to further strengthen every individuals capability to be disaster
resilient.
Building
a national resilience, we are committed to promote initiatives for building national
resilience with the aim of creating safe and secure lands, regions, and
economic society that have strength and flexibility, even in the event of any
disasters.
Demonstrating
that community investments in resilience will produce measurable short- and long-term
benefits that balance the costs of critical sustained commitment to increasing
resilience. The total value of a community’s assets note for a decision-making
structure for disaster resilience that addresses both quantitative data and
qualitative value assessments. The need to make appropriate resilience investments
to prepare and plan for hazards and risks.
Whatever
actions we do that concerns disaster preparedness is a lot of contributions in
everyone’s goal of having a disaster resilient community. Our preparedness lies
in our hands.
