Buwan ng Wika
According to Wikipedia, Buwan ng Wika or Language Week is a celebration in the Philippines held during the month of August. This is an extended celebration of Language Week which was extended on January 15, 1997 through proclamation number 1041 by former President Fidel V. Ramos. Language month is often celebrated in schools.
There was not a single language spoken in the Philippines when the Spaniards arrived. There are 3 major languages spoken in the archipelago, Kapangpangan, Ilokano, Cebuano.
This 2019 Buwan ng Wika has a theme of; “Wikang Katutubo: Tungo sa Isang Bansang Filipino’’
